The World Cup is just 48 hours away - so perhaps now is the best time to engage in a crash course in Brazilian culture.
Well, you could do a lot worse than picking up a copy of *Gilles Peterson's* new album. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro with a cast of fantastic musicians, 'Brasil Bam Bam Bam' aims to capture the other Brazil, the true Brazil.
Out now, album cut 'Aquarela do Brasil' has received the remix treatment. Initially recorded in a Sonzeira style, MERC Records boss Mark E has stepped in to add some very European electronics.
It's a curious mix, with the producer teasing the track out towards the seven minute mark. Retaining the melancholy of the original, Mark E adds some real warmth, throwing in some stabbing strings alongside an undercurrent of bossa nova.
