"Siri, I need to hide my roommate": Student Pedro Bravo, 20, asks his iPhone where to put the body on the day of murder
A college student accused of murdering his roommate in a love triangle asked Siri, the digital assistant on his iPhone, for advice on where to hide a body on the day of the murder. Pedro Bravo, 20, is accused of kidnapping and strangling his 18-year-old friend Christian Aguilar in September 2012 when they shared a room at the University of Florida.
According to statements made at the murder trial at the Alachua County Criminal Justice Centre in Florida on Tuesday, the men had argued over Aguilar dating Bravo's ex girlfriend Erika Friman on September 20, 2012.
Gainesville Police Department confirmed that on that day, Bravo told Apple's digital assistant Siri: 'I need to hide my roommate'.
In response to this, Siri said: 'What kind of place are you looking for? Swamps. Reservoirs. Metal foundries. Dumps.'
Police were also able to ascertain that Bravo was using his iPhone's flashlight nine times that day for up to 48 minutes, and the iPhone's GPS location log confirmed Bravo's movements that day. Police are assuming Bravo was using the flashlight function to hide the body in the woods, where it was discovered by hunters a month later.
Medical Examiner Dr Martha Burt said, 'I've ruled out natural death, suicide and accidental' in the case. The trial continues.
Posing the question on how to hide a body to Siri today yields a different answer: "I used to know how to answer this," Siri now replies.
