Rock 'n' roll is supposed to be a fantasy, a place to re-invent yourself on a stage dripping with beer and sawdust.
*King Tuff* isn't a real king, not really. An alter ego for Kyle Thomas, it's a name which has become synonymous with sleazy glam riffs delivered with a garage rock ferocity.
A cult name, 2012's self-titled studio album on house of fuzz Burger Records saw King Tuff leap into the public gaze. The enfant terrible of debauched American rock, the LP swept Jack White from the top of the Billboard Heatseekers chart and won the Vermont native a deal with Sub Pop.
Heading straight back into the studio with a mission to freak the fuck out, what emerges is sheer, primordial garage rock ooze. Unrelenting from the off, 'Black Moon Spell' is visceral rock 'n' roll, all blood, sweat, tears and outrageous riffs.
