
It's a curious anomaly but many of the defining artists in Americana are not, in fact, American.
From Neil Young to The Band to The Cowboy Junkies onward, Canada has quietly, patiently been able to press its own identity onto that of Americana.
In this sense, *Elliott BROOD* are part of a powerful lineage. The three piece hail from Toronto, with their 2013 album 'Days Into Years' winning the Juno Award in 2013 for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year.
Withdrawing to a farmhouse in rural Ontario, the trio began sketching out a follow up. New album 'Work And Love' drops on November 4th, with the material seemingly reaching backwards in order to go forwards.
Clash is able to premiere new cut 'Nothing Left' and it's a wonderful introduction. Strong, strident songwriting with an acoustic flair, there's a contagious melodic edge which really draws you in.
Perfectly encapsulating the rolling plains of the Canadian wilderness, it's also - oddly enough - prime Americana.
