With *BANKS* and *FKA Twigs* the new critical darlings of the day, you could be forgiven for wondering whether a *Jessie Ware* comeback would be welcomed.
Happily, she’s returned with a record that’s even better than her impressive debut, ‘Devotion’. The dance influences of that record have largely been jettisoned in favour of a warmer, more soulful sound.
She must now also be recognised as one of the country’s greatest vocalists - she imparts yearning with such controlled restraint and lightness of touch it’s sublime. To top it all, latest single ‘Say You Love Me’ is simply stunning - surely the torch song of 2014.
