This is Essex -- Ciaran Gold ciaran.gold@essexchronicle.co.uk A FORMER church trustee broke down in tears as he admitted secretly filming a woman naked in a bathroom and bedroom. Timothy Pooley, 50, of Maldon Road, Witham, sobbed from the dock of Colchester Magistrates' Court as he pleaded guilty to three charges of voyeurism. Dressed in a black suit, blue shirt and striped purple tie, the part-time music teacher of 20 years struggled to compose himself when asked to confirm his details during the ten-minute hearing on Thursday. At one point, he told himself "come on" as he battled against his emotions. Gratification Wayne Ablett, prosecuting, said during the first half of this year Pooley filmed a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, showering, using a toilet and undressing. "In June at about 7.20am having used the toilet she stripped off to have a shower," Mr Ablett said. "Having finished she reached out for her toothbrush and noticed his camera phone with the lens end out. "She checked the phone and found it was recording. "She watched it back and saw herself on the toilet and showering." She then called police. Mr Ablett added: "She said she was shaken by the whole incident. It was a serious breach of trust. It caused her shock and concern. "She was mortified when she found out what had happened. She felt violated." Pooley admitted operating an iPhone to observe a private act on Tuesday, May 21, recording a private act between January and June, and another charge of recording a private act on Thursday, June 6. He made no indications to two further charges of voyeurism. At the time of the charges, Pooley was a trustee of the Bethel Christian Fellowship, which meets at the Maltings Academy in Spinks Lane, Witham, on Sundays. Gordon Crick, the senior pastor and elder of the fellowship, said he was no longer with the church. "There's a real sadness at what happened and our prayers and thoughts are with every one who was affected," said Mr Crick. Matthew Taylor, mitigating, made no submissions. Pooley, a teacher with more than 20 years of experience, specialising in classical piano and flute told the Chronicle he was not allowed to comment on the case until its conclusion. He was remanded on conditional bail not to contact his victim ahead of a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, January 6.
