Mobile phone robbery in Anstey

A 17 year-old man was robbed in Anstey and detectives are appealing for witnesses.

The incident took place at about 6.30pm on Sunday November 9 as the victim was walking through the Recreation Ground on Stadon Road, between the ‘half pipe’ and the football pitch.

The victim was approached by a group of people and pushed to the ground. One of the men in the group demanded the victim empty his pockets, which he did.The victim’s phone, an iPhone 4 was stolen during the robbery along with a small amount of cash. The suspects were seen running off towards the area of the library and Caters Close. The victim did not require medical attention.

Detective Constable 1311 Patrick Cleall who is investigating the incident, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the group of suspects acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.

”We would also appeal to anyone who is offered an iPhone 4 for sale in suspicious circumstances to please come forward.”
