TWO men have been jailed after taking a Wollaton hairdresser's car.
Gary Pearson, of Fircroft Avenue, Bilborough, walked into Saffina's Hair Salon, in Trowell Road, at 2.30pm on Tuesday, October 15.
He approached owner Saffina Mian, who was alone in the shop at the time, and claimed to be there to buy his partner a gift.
But, moments later, he said: "Don't you want to give me your keys?" He then demanded her car and phone.
Pearson, 27, left with the keys and an iPhone, and met Lee Musson, 36, of Neston Drive, in Old Basford, who was waiting outside. Together, they fled in Saffina's black BMW.
Police officers, who were already in the Wollaton area, responded to Saffina's 999 call. Following a short chase through the Nuthall area, Musson dumped the car and the pair fled on foot.
Both men, who previously pleaded guilty to burglary and aggravated vehicle taking, were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday.
They were each jailed for two years, including nine months to run concurrently for the vehicle offence, and received 12-month driving bans.
They were also ordered to pay Saffina £100 each in compensation.
Detective Constable Chris Taylor said: "Thankfully, Saffina's timely call to us, and the presence of officers already in the area, meant we were able to arrest them soon after the offence and return her car and iPhone to her straight away.
"While no one was physically hurt, the psychological damage of something like this is immeasurable. I just hope the fact that Musson and Pearson are behind bars offers Saffina some sense of comfort." Reported by This is 1 day ago.
