From heightened lilac to uncanny peach, the new trends in makeup colour are all about nostalgia for foreign summers and a particular kind of post-production perfection

Colour has changed. No longer are we chasing the pinks and roses of a flushed cheek or bitten lip, today the colour that feels right in beauty is the slightly heightened lilac, or uncanny peach. It's colour as seen through an Instagram filter. It's that nostalgic light, that image drenched in foreign summer. It's skin, brightened at the base and shaded at the cheek, eyes glossy, lips a satin pop of lavender or coral, something that looks like you've been retouched in post, and then a sheer swoosh of powder over the lot for that fake, iPhone perfection.
