Production duo who gorge themselves on American, Dutch, and German hard techno and house...Forget the Atkins diet or the 5:2 – we’re all for the diet preached by new production duo *Low Concept*, who gorged strictly on “American, Dutch, and German hard techno and house” to allow them to put together an exclusive DJ mix for Clash.
The Berlin-based duo consists of Ville Haimala from Finnish experimental techno duo Renaissance Man and New Jersey-born producer and fellow techno obsessive Daniel Fisher, aka Physical Therapy. As you’d expect from such a pair, Low Concept’s vibe is based largely around progressive, explosive techno, but geared very much towards igniting the dancefloor, which it frequently does.
So, what’s the result of the Low Concept diet? A romping, rolling, barnstorming trip that hits hard for all of its 64 minutes, as if you need to ask. Featured artists include Kode9, Jam City, Instra:Mental, Clouds, James Ruskin and many more. Here's the duo to explain more about the vibe of their selection:
“We tried to keep the mix as low concept as possible. While making the EP we fed ourselves a strict diet of American, Dutch, and German hard techno and house so this mix reflects that for a lot of the selections. We have some go-to labels when we DJ out; Djax-Up and International Deejay Gigolo, for example, so they are represented here a couple of times. Some newer favourites in there as well – hard tracks that manage to keep a sense of humour or fun.”
