Dublin producer Gavin Lynch has always been obsessed with sound.
Initially a sound engineer, the Irish artist quickly developed a flair for aural perfection. Driven to explore his love of techno, the producer chosen the name *Matador* as a flamboyant alias.
Since then, it's been a near effortless rise. A dextrous, flexible producer capable of seizing big rooms and charming intimate venues, Matador has also developed a probing, effective and direct artistic voice.
Schooled in classic techno, the Irish artist has compiled 'Play With Me' for Minus – a pair of EPs demonstrating his wide-ranging abilities.
Collected for digital release on March 16th, Clash took this as an opportunity to ask Matador about his most influential techno moments.

*Agoria – 'La Onziéme Marche' (Phil Kieran remix)*
"This record was remixed by Irish techno wizard, Phil Kieran. I had the pleasure of remixing one of Phil's tracks a while back, but this remix brought a fresh and funky feel to techno at the time of its release. It goes down a treat every time."

*Radioslave ft. Danton Eeprom – 'Grindhouse' (Dubfire Terror Planet Remix)*
"Before Ali Dubfire became a good friend, I was playing his music in my sets. He has made some of the most classic and influential dance records for many years, and I've no doubt he'll keep doing the same for many more to come. His remix of 'Grindhouse' by Radioslave is a slice of techno mastery."

*Renato Cohen – 'Pontape'*
"This was released around the same time as Phil Kieran's remix of Agoria, and I just remember it being a real hit in the clubs. People like Carl Cox, Marco Bailey and many others would play it in their sets. Classic."

*Dave Clarke – 'Wisdom To The Wise (Red. 2)'*
"Dave Clarke was a huge influence for me when I first started listening to and playing techno. He played some of the best DJ sets I'd ever heard growing up. His style was industrial with elements of funk, hip hop and more. 'Red 2′ is a straight-up techno classic – nothing else needs to be said."

*Ben Sims – 'Manipulated'*
"Banging techno grooves from the one and only Ben Sims. Around the time of this was written he had that tribal/funky techno sound that rocked the dancefloor. He was a favorite then and still is now."

*Trentemøller – 'Sunstroke'*
"Trentemøller have been very influential to my sound over the years. It's sometimes deep and dark it but always contains a certain energy that just works, whether it be in the grooves, in the drums or that edgy vocal hook, his sound just resonates."

*Jeff Mills – 'The Bells'*
"Last but definitely not least, 'The Bells.' This is probably the most-played techno track of all time. Jeff was a DJ and producer I admired greatly when I first started clubbing, and then even further when I started DJing and producing."
